## See it in Claude

Claude answers three questions through the ImmigrationLayer connector. Each answer shows the date of the data and a link to its source.

1. Which edition of Form I-765 does USCIS accept today? Answer, from check_form_edition: USCIS accepts the 08/21/25 edition and has not set a date to reject it. Source: uscis.gov/i-765. Data as of September 17, 2026.
2. Is the October 2026 Visa Bulletin moving forward? Answer, from get_visa_bulletin_notes: note B says dates for filing and final action dates advanced across various categories for FY 2027. Some employment-based Rest of World categories retrogressed to stay within FY 2027 limits. Note C extends the EB-4 religious worker (SR) category through December 11, 2026. Source: travel.state.gov, Visa Bulletin for October 2026. Data as of October 2, 2026.
3. What does it cost to file Form N-400? Answer, from get_fee, which needs a plan: $710 online and $760 on paper, both effective April 1, 2024. Source: USCIS fee schedule, Form G-1055. Data as of September 23, 2026.

On Free, Pro, and Max plans, go to Customize, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds it under Organization settings, then Connectors. The connector URL is immigrationlayer.com/mcp. Four tools are free with no sign-in. Fees, processing times, and chart dates need a plan.

The chat window is a recreation, not a screen recording. The answers use data from the live connector on October 20, 2026. ImmigrationLayer is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic.

## Who it's for

For the people who prepare, review, and sign immigration filings.

- **Immigration attorneys**: Check a form edition or fee before a filing without leaving your AI assistant, with a source you can cite back to a client.
- **Paralegals**: Look up the edition date, the fee, and the Visa Bulletin chart dates while you assemble a package, and keep the dated source with the file.
- **Law firm and in-house legal teams**: Give everyone who touches a filing the same dated, cited answers, inside the AI assistant your team already uses.

## What a stale answer costs

An assistant trained months ago still sounds certain. At filing time, a confident old answer has a price.

- **Rejected filing**: A filing on an edition USCIS does not accept is rejected. For I-765 and I-539, USCIS said on 2026-08-14 that only the 09/15/26 edition would be accepted from 2026-09-15. After a court order on 2026-09-14, USCIS accepts the older editions and not the 09/15/26 edition (USCIS form pages, read 2026-10-14).
- **Wrong fee**: A wrong fee is a rejected package and a lost filing date.
- **Missed window**: A priority date read off an old bulletin is a missed filing window.
- **Your duty to verify**: The verification duty sits with the attorney, not the tool ([ABA Formal Opinion 512, 2024-07-29](https://www.americanbar.org/groups/professional_responsibility/publications/ethics_opinions/)).

## What your AI assistant can check

Eight checks in one connection.

### Form editions and alerts

The current edition of a tracked form, the date it takes effect, and the form page or dated archive copy it came from. Form changes and alerts since a date you choose. A keyword search of alerts and Federal Register notices.

Free, no sign-in: form edition, form and alert changes since a date. Needs a plan: the alert keyword search.

### Fees

The general filing fee for a tracked form, the date it took effect, and the fee schedule it came from. Needs a plan.

### Processing times

The published estimate for a form, with its basis and unit. Needs a plan.

### Visa Bulletin

Final action and dates for filing entries need a plan. DV lottery cutoffs and advisory notes are free.

### Every data answer is dated and cited

Each data answer includes a date, a source link, and a fingerprint of the stored content. The date is not always the latest source check, and the fingerprint alone does not show whether the source has changed since. Check the cited source before filing.

## Why web search does not fix it

Asking the assistant to search first helps less than it seems.

- **A page, not the answer**: Search returns a page. The model still has to read a dropdown, a PDF, or a table, and may misread it. We return the field.
- **Different results each run**: Search results vary per run. We return the same row until the source changes, and we log the change.
- **No date and no fingerprint of the source**: Search does not record when a page was read or what it said. We give both, so the filer can check the source we cite.
- **No record of what changed**: Search does not know what changed since last week. Our changelog does.

## Add current immigration data to your AI assistant

## Questions attorneys ask

**Is this legal advice?**

No. ImmigrationLayer is not legal advice. It gives an AI agent a dated, cited answer about form editions, fees, processing times, and the Visa Bulletin. The verification duty for a filing sits with the attorney or filer, not with this tool ([ABA Formal Opinion 512, 2024-07-29](https://www.americanbar.org/groups/professional_responsibility/publications/ethics_opinions/)).

**Are you affiliated with USCIS, DHS, or the State Department?**

No. ImmigrationLayer is an independent product. It is not run by, endorsed by, or affiliated with USCIS, DHS, or the Department of State. It reads each agency's own public data and cites the source and date behind every answer.

**Which sources do you check, and how often?**

We check the tracked USCIS form pages, USCIS newsroom alerts, the USCIS fee schedule (Form G-1055), and the Federal Register API daily. Visa Bulletin data is loaded by hand each month; automatic checks are disabled. Processing times are loaded by hand from USCIS's published processing-times data and dated with their own `as_of`. Neither manual source is checked daily.

**Do you store case data or personal information?**

Tools take form numbers, categories, dates, and countries, never names, A-numbers, or other case data. Our database does not store tool arguments. REST API calls carry their arguments in the URL. Our API server's logs keep that URL for 7 days, and Cloudflare's request analytics keep REST API paths for 31 days. The Privacy page lists the personal information kept for sign-in, billing, email, and request logs.

**Which USCIS forms do you cover?**

Edition tracking covers I-765, I-539, I-485, I-130, N-400, I-129, I-140, I-90, and I-131. Fee results depend on the entries available in Form G-1055 for these tracked forms. Processing-time results come from manually loaded data and may cover different forms and categories.
